Pro Bono

The Firm strongly believes in imbibing a culture of ‘giving back’ and operationalizes its vision by actively providing pro-bono assistance in addition to regular matters. Associates and Partners in the firm focus on pro-bono assistance with some spending in excess of 70% of their time with pro-bono cases. In doing so, the Firm seeks to lend support to the building of a ‘pro-bono ethic’ across Indian law Firms. In particular, the Firm has lent its expertise to providing quality legal advice on a pro-bono basis to organizations working towards advancing social justice.

The Firm has advised development and human rights organizations working at the grass-roots, nationally as well as internationally, taking on projects in areas spanning from intellectual property, environmental law, corporate social responsibility, privacy and data protection law, mental health law, sexual harassment policies and processes amongst others.

The nature of assistance provided by the Firm on a pro-bono basis includes quality research, preparation of advisory notes and memos, and proactive support at a pre-litigation stage. The Firm select the matters we take up pro bono based on evolving current capacities, but once a matter is taken up, it is serviced with the same level of professionalism, competence, and sincerity as paid matters. Professionals have received feedback appreciative of their initiative and enthusiasm, as well as the quality of their work.

Pursuing their vision of providing legal assistance with its Pro Bono endeavors, the Firm’s Associates continue to render legal assistance to the Delhi State Legal Services Authority, iProbono and Trustlaw etc. The Firm’s representation of armed forces personnel in a Writ Petition has resulted in the judicial recognition of the ‘The Right to Work in a Safe Environment’ for defence personnel/ combatants in the context of use of defence equipment.
